Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary – The Heard brings nature and people together to discover, enjoy and experience our environment. The sanctuary features four miles of hiking trails, a two-acre native plant garden, live animals, indoor and outdoor exhibits, classrooms and laboratories.
 
McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) – The 480-seat Courtroom Theatre, equipped with a vintage Mighty Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ and a Variable Room Acoustic System, green room, dressing rooms and several multi-use rooms, is the perfect venue for any event.
 
Third Monday Trade Days – One of the largest flea markets in North Texas, Third Monday Trade Days features more than 900 vendors. It is held the weekend before the third Monday of each month.
 
ParksMcKinney boasts a wide variety of parks and recreation facilities and activities for all ages. Each park offers amenities and features such as gazebos and picnic areas, playgrounds, baseball fields, basketball courts, soccer fields, hiking and biking trails, and more.
 
Golf – Swing away at several outstanding private and public courses, including the City of McKinney's Oak Hollow Golf Course, which recently underwent a multi-million dollar makeover. The 18-hole championship golf course is perfect for hosting company golf leagues, charity events and annual golf tournaments.
 
Lakes – McKinney is home to Towne Lake, a 22-acre lake with swan paddle boats, lighted hiking and biking trails, two picnic pavilions, restrooms, concession services, a playground, two sand volleyball courts, nine lighted horseshoe courts, a fishing pier, and six lighted recreation softball/baseball fields. Just a short drive away are Lake Lavon, Lake Lewisville and Lake Texoma, providing additional recreational opportunities including camping, boating and fishing.

Sports – Nearby Frisco offers some of the most exciting sports venues in Texas. The Dr Pepper/Seven-Up Ballpark is home to the Frisco Rough Riders Double-A baseball team, an affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The Dr Pepper Star Center arena is the training facility for the Dallas Stars hockey team and the home of the Texas Tornado Junior Hockey League Champions. And for ice skaters of all ages and skill levels, The Ice at Stonebriar, an NHL-sized ice rink located in Stonebriar Centre, offers classes and public skating.
