The McKinney Independent School District rates as one of the fastest-growing school districts in North Texas and continues to receive academic commendations for the performance of its students. The district consists of 17 elementary schools, four middle schools and four high schools. The following schools are designated for the Sorrellwood Park community.
Valley Creek Elementary School
Faubion Middle School
Mckinney High School
According to the TEA Website, nine schools in the district were rated “Exemplary” in the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) rating system based on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test results. Ten of the schools in the district received a “Recognized” rating based on the test results. All three middle schools that completed the TAKS test were rated “Recognized”, a first for the district since the TEA began the rating system.
McKinney ISD high school students also score high on national tests each year. High school students from MISD taking the SAT test had higher average scores than both the state and national averages.
McKinney ISD provides an excellent education, which challenges each student to reach his or her highest potential, in a quality, safe environment. From academics to fine arts to athletics, the McKinney Independent School District is one of the finest in Texas.
